It allows website managers and authors to better engage with their customers online across multiple channels and to derive customer intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>The company was founded in 2001 and has offices in Australia, Denmark, Sweden, Canada, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Sitecore has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sitecore.net\/about\/press%20and%20media\/press%20releases\/2015\/02\/forrester%20wave\"> positioned by Forrester Research, Inc.<\/a> as a leader in its independent report, &#8220;The Forrester Wave: Web Content Management Systems, Q1 2015.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The most recent release is version 8.0 Update 2 and it was released in February 2015. Currently, Sitecore has 3,000+ customers worldwide and is powering well over 32,000 websites.<\/p>\n<p>In this blog entry, we continue our three part series on using Sitecore with Multi-language websites and address the topic of configuring additional languages.\u00a0 You can read part one of this series at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalizationpartners.com\/2014\/04\/02\/sitecore-cms-and-multi-language-websites-part-1\/\">Sitecore CMS and Multi-language Websites &#8211; Part 1<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Adding New Languages<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>When configuring your Sitecore system to support multiple languages, you must select the active languages you intend to use. By default, English will already be configured and ready for use.<\/p>\n<p>Once you are logged into the Sitecore Desktop, you can follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click on the <strong>Sitecore<\/strong> menu<\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>Control Panel<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In the popup window, click <strong>Globalization<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Add a New Language<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Next<\/strong> to begin the process<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>This brings up the <strong>Add a New Language<\/strong> wizard as seen below.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.globalizationpartners.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/gpi_sitecore_2_600x545.jpg\" alt=\"GPI_SITECORE_2\" width=\"600\" height=\"545\" \/><\/p>\n<h5><strong>Adding a Pre-defined Language<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>On the language codes screen, you can select from a pre-defined list of languages. You will notice that some language names are duplicated for locale, for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spanish (Bolivia)<\/li>\n<li>Spanish (Chile)<\/li>\n<li>Spanish (Colombia)<\/li>\n<li>Spanish (Spain, International Sort)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Languages may have one or more locale which can be selected depending on your requirements. In other words, locale specific versions for date, time and currency formats.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.globalizationpartners.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/gpi_sitecore_3_600x648.jpg\" alt=\"GPI_SITECORE_3\" width=\"600\" height=\"648\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once you have selected your language, the Language, Country\/Region Code and Icons are pre-populated for you.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.globalizationpartners.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/gpi_sitecore_4_600x754.jpg\" alt=\"GPI_SITECORE_4\" width=\"600\" height=\"754\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In part three of this series, I will cover how to add custom languages.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Benefits of Using Sitecore for Your Multi-language Sites<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>When it comes to deploying and managing multilingual websites, Sitecore allows website editors to work and create content in their native language.
