Microsoft Translator Text API is\u00a0a cloud-based\u00a0machine translation service.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.globalizationpartners.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/gpi-afrikaans-home_400x320.jpg\" alt=\"gpi-afrikaans-home\" width=\"400\" height=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<p>According to Microsoft, Afrikaans will soon be available in all Microsoft products that offer translation features powered by Microsoft Translator. These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Microsoft Translator<\/li>\n<li>Skype<\/li>\n<li>SharePoint<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Office<\/li>\n<li>Document Translator<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Afrikaans is predominantly spoken in South Africa and Namibia and is the primary language of around seven million people worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The language, also known as the world&#8217;s youngest language and one of South Africa&#8217;s official languages, is a derivative of Dutch.<\/p>\n<p>The Afrikaans language contains influences and roots from English, Khoi, Xhosa, Asian Malay, Malagasy, San, Portuguese and French.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft says its speech API is the world&#8217;s first end-to-end translation API optimized for real-life conversations, as opposed to simple human to machine commands.<\/p>\n<p>They suggest that speech to text translation into Afrikaans could be used for solutions such as real-time presentation translation, customer support or media subtitling.<\/p>\n<p>Webmasters, bloggers, developers, anyone with a web page, can integrate the API via JavaScript code.\u00a0There is a free subscription for volumes up to 2 million characters per month, or users can purchase a monthly subscription for higher volumes for through volume licensing for Enterprise customers.<\/p>\n<p>To read more, please see: <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.msdn.microsoft.com\/translation\/2016\/06\/14\/welkom-afrikaans-to-microsoft-translator\/\"> &#8220;Welkom&#8221; Afrikaans to Microsoft Translators<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft Translator supports 50 text translation languages, and in June, they added Afrikaans to their list.
